The reasons are all selfish (well mostly, anyway.) I hate the weight gain, I hate the fact that it slows me down (enough to put me on bed rest with P), I hate the nausea and the waddle and all the fun stuff that goes along with it (I'll save you from too much information there.) I hate that I have to be more careful skiing, that I struggle to catch my breath at 10,000 feet driving over the pass to Jackson, and that I am so, so, tired.
That said, I love the baby (of course!) And I am so thankful for my children (and the husband that put up with me while pregnant.)
Don't get me wrong, I do everything I can to stay active while pregnant and I highly recommend it as long as your doctor is ok with it (and you feel good!)
Because of that, I was absolutely THRILLED when I found out about Mountain Mama:Expecting Adventure (no affiliation to this blog except a common mission!) This past fall, I did an introductory post reviewing the Marin Nursing Top and talked about the company in general. After meeting the founders, Teresa and her husband, William last week in Salt Lake at the big Outdoor Retailers Gear Expo, I couldn't be more impressed (incredible new products coming out in 2012, by the way.)
I wanted to share two of my very favorite pieces of clothing. I literally wear these tops daily (because they are so easy for nursing and technical enough to keep me warm outside and moving + they are super comfortable.) No one is paying me to say this, so hear it loud and clear: These are absolutely worth the money and are THE gear every pregnant and/or nursing woman needs.
San Juan Eco Hoodie - Maternity and Nursing ($59)
New for spring 2012 (and available on the site now). Soft (really, really soft) functional, with the body-glove technology that makes their shirts work for during pregnancy and after. Light enough for a layering piece in cooler weather or long sleeves in the summer.
Clouds Rest Baselayer Crossfront Top - Maternity and Nursing ($48)
Thick enough to count as an outer layer (I often throw mine on in the morning, after the gym, or as my only layer under my jacket for skiing.) I can't tell you how often I have been skiing and soooo thankful to have something to keep me warm when I had to stop and nurse. You will find me wearing this top in a LOT of the pictures on the blog.
Teresa has been super generous in offering our readers a 15% discount code to use on the site for the month of February. Use code tales15. I hope you take advantage and get some great gear for yourself or someone you love!
In case you missed it yesterday, Teresa of Mountain Mama: Expecting Adventure did an awesome guest-post. Check it out!
Mountain Mama: Expecting Adventure provided me with these tops for review. However, as always, the opinions expressed here are completely and honestly my own. Some of the pictures are taken from their site. Additionally, some of the links are affiliates. See my disclosure here.
I bought myself the clouds rest baselayer (tops and bottoms)after reading your first review. I am neither pregnant nor nursing (baby weaned two weeks ago.. *sob!*) but I love love LOVE the gear anyway. Am trying to time the next pregnancy for winter so I can take full advantage of its amazing elastic properties! Ha ha... But seriously - NURSING long underwear? SIGN ME UP! AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteI've worn my clouds rest running and cross-country skiing, and as loungewear (like you, I often just wear my workout gear all day...) I talk up Mtn Mama Expecting Adventure to everyone I see on the trails with a baby. If I hadn't already blown my gear budget in January, I would be buying up the rest of their line...
Oh! Something else I love about their gear: the SIZING. I wear a size 10 pant (16 dress) and their size large fits great. It's so nice to NOT buy a XL just to accommodate my chest....
Laura - thank you for the comments! Its always great to hear another opinion!!!
DeleteThis stuff looks great... too bad I don't need any of it. HAha
ReplyDeleteI love the look of this brand. and with your review I am going ot have to try them with our next. I love being pregnant! I feel badly you do not. I love that they can be used for maternity and nursing!
