FREE Hydration Systems from Geigerrig? Yes, Please!

I am taking a break from our normal "This Moment..." post today to bring you some really exciting news that I thought was good enough to share right.now.

Let me introduce you to Geigerrig Hydration Systems.

Relatively new to the market and taking it by storm, I am pretty excited to get my hands on one of these systems and review it for you (coming soon!)  In the meantime, check out what is happening (and make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post!)

What's Different about Geigerrig:
- Pressurized (through a had-bulb) system allows for spraying (and therefore no sharing of germs, etc. from the sucking action that is required by all other hydration systems.)  If you have kids, this means NO FLOATERS in your water!  Whoop!  This also means the ability to use the water to cool down or clean up on the trail.
- Easy to clean (bladder can go in the top rack of your dishwasher)
- You can purchase a filter that attaches to the tube which means unlimited drinking water usage even in the backcountry (without having to carry an additional filter).
- Bladders are seemingly (see contained bomb video below...) indestructible

Get one for FREE:
This is the exciting part and the reason that I wanted to get this post out to you right away.  Launched just yesterday, every Geigerrig pack now comes with a High Adventure Passport (www.freehydrationpacks.com) packed full of vouchers for free lift tickets (for ski hills around the country) and oil changes by Subaru and Jeep dealers.  Depending on where you ski, using just one of those lift tickets + an oil change will completely pay for your pack (therefore making it free).  The passport is good for a year, and MUST be presented to the ticket counter where the voucher will be redeemed ALONG WITH your Geigerrig pack.

We're pretty psyched Grand Targhee Resort is on the list, along with Jackson Kayaks.  Want to see if anything is near you?  Search for the nearest resorts/perks here.

The Inside Scoop:
I had the chance to speak to Bob Geiger on the phone this week and therefore have it on very good authority that starting on Monday Monday, April 30th, The Clymb will be selling Geigerrig packs at 30% off.  It's a great site for discounted gear and this would be an excellent time to get a pack on sale (making those vouchers even more valuable.)

Find Geigerrig:
On their Website
On Facebook
On Twitter (though they are not tweeting much yet...)

Want more information?
Here's another video that is funny AND informative (its a Shamwow Spoof!).  It's long, but it really does tell the ins and outs of the pack and the High Adventure Passport Program.

Questions Still?
Feel free to leave questions/comments on this post and I will make sure they get answered!  Folks from Geigerrig will be checking in and commenting also.  Thanks!

  1. I didn't see them on the Clymb site.

My only question was with the use of other branded filters, if any testing had been done to see if they still work under pressure. I wish I could remember what filter I was looking at, if I do I'll post a follow-up.

  3. Greetings, this is Matt with GEIGERRIG. The Sawyer 2 filter is the filter that most have been using with our hydration engines. If you are a fan of the pump filters then the Katadyn Hiker Pro will be a great choice as well. their accessories are very compatible with GEIGERRIG hydration packs.
