As a general rule, we tend to stay away from a lot of the pre-packaged stuff. If I had all the time and energy in the world, we would honestly eat completely from scratch. However, reality sets in and the truth is that I would rather spend that time with my young boys and husband than in the kitchen all day long.
As a trade-off, I am picky about what we DO eat pre-packaged. I try to limit sugar, unnecessary preservatives and waste from packaging.
A few months ago, I ran across GoGo squeeZ applesauce packets and they have turned into one packaged snack that we consistently use for the boys. I believe in them enough to share them with you!
What we love about GoGo squeeZ:
- portioned out packets that result in no-mess (even when we are feeding them to P.)
- easy for on the trail, ski hill, car and general travel (we have to ration them out to J because he loves them that much - they are his "treat"...without all the sugar!)
- all natural and no added sugar
- gluton, dairy and nut free
- 100 % fruit
- resealable (J easily finishes a packet, but P usually is eating on it for a few feedings.)
- Plenty of applesauce-based flavors: apple, apple-stawberry, apple-peach, apple-banana, apple-cinnamon, and apple-berry. We have only tried the regular apple, but would love to try the others!
- Their recycling system (see my corrections below!)
What we aren't so crazy about:
****I JUST realized I missed something HUGE here! GoGo squeeZ has teamed up with TerraCycle and has a program where you can send in your used packets (absolutely free, including pre-paid shipping) to be turned into fun stuff like playground equipment! Plus, you are rewarded with TerraCycle points which can be redeemed for a variety of charitable gifts, or for a payment of $0.01 per point to the non-profit organization or school of your choice. COOL!!!! Way to go, GoGo squeeZ AND TerraCycle!
Buy them:
You certainly pay for the convenience, but they aren't outrageously priced (amazon has them for about $30 for a pack of 48.) You can also find them at Costco, Fred Meyer, WalMart, Whole Foods and various other grocery stores.
Win them:
GoGo squeeZ has generously offered the opportunity for three of you to win a pack of 4. Yes, they will go SUPER fast if you win, but my hope is for some of you to have an opportunity to try them before you buy them!
For a chance to win, simply comment on this post telling me where you would use GoGo squeeZ and what you think of them. If you want to comment, but are not interested in winning, feel free (just let me know that in your comment!) Three winners will be chosen after March 8th and will be announced on this post, through twitter and on our facebook page. Winners will have one week to claim their prize or another winner will be chosen (it is YOUR responsibility to check and email me!)
While I did discover GoGo squeeZ thanks to a gift from my Mother-in-Law, GoGo squeeZ also sent me a sample to try. As always, the opinions expressed here are completely and honestly my own!
I love that they allow you to send in the use packets! That is so cool. My kiddos would love these when we are hiking Old Rag again.
ReplyDeletewe love them, glad to hear about the recycling program, that's awesome! we use them (and some other brands that offer veggie blends) for lots of things-- from part of school lunches to ski trips to just to keep in my bag for the unexpected snack on the go (like waiting in line at the post office!).
ReplyDeleteLove that they are resealable for re-use, if not eaten all at once. They look easy to pack in backpacks for healthy treats when out and about.
ReplyDeleteOur family loves these. Even though my kids are older, they take them in their lunches on sports trips. Love that they are recycleable!
ReplyDeleteWe love these and take them everywhere...bike rides, hikes, snack after swimming lessons, etc. Thanks for letting me know about the recycling program. That rocks!
ReplyDeleteI love that they have teamed up with terracycle. Very cool. These with be great for my little munchkin while we are on our daily hike. Even if it did end up in my hair because she wants to feed herself even while in the backpack
ReplyDeleteThese are great for biking trips!
ReplyDeleteSnacks are lifesavers... literally :D !!! We'd try them on the first adventure after we get them - hiking, skiing, snowshoeing? I love that the packages are made into playground equipment after! Do you know if they are available in Canada?
ReplyDeleteJust checked into it, and got confirmation from them that they ARE in Canada! YEA!
DeleteThese we use for everything: beach, Disneyland, day trips, car snacks. We LOVE them!!!

Love that they joined up with Terracycle! My toddler would love to try these. She loves anything squeezable =)
ReplyDeleteThose are great for the diaper bag and after a wisdom teeth surgery! They taste much better than sugar filled applesauce. GoGo is all I had last month after getting all four of my wisdom teeth out. My little guy kept coming to the room to steal my stash too.. lol I hope to win one of those packs :)
ReplyDeleteI carry these along in the diaper bag for a quick, mess-less snack for my 22 month old. Come in handy when T-ball practice runs long, or we have to wait extra long while shopping. Also great for traveling!
ReplyDeleteMy kids loved those, but we stopped buying them because of the waste, good to know they'll recycle them.
ReplyDeleteI would use thm in our car to limit the mess. I can't keep that thing clean!
ReplyDeleteI would use them on road trips, as driving around the Olympic Peninsula, while beautiful, is long and lacking in food. I would also like to see how great they are at giving me that boost of energy as I am miles away from the trails, high on a mountain, needing an extra dose of energy to put me up on the peak. Honestly though, I would probably use them while blogging, driving, walking and taking pictures all over!
